This project consisted in providing a multi-energy make-up air
system fed by either solar, electrical or oil combustion input.
This arrangement is operated through a computerized management system
that continuously evaluates which energy option is preferable in
relation with the plant's needs and requirements.
This project's main determining elements were :
- Upgrading of the make-up air to actual standards
- Use of a solar wall to preheat the incoming fresh air, with
backup from electric coils to assure adequate heating in all conditions
- Addition of electric coils in the five existing oil fired hot
air furnaces heating the building's periphery
- Installation of a computerized real-time energy management system
that considers the plant's production power needs, the energy
usage parameters and cost
